“The Lord has granted me my petition...”

In the midst of our heartache, our hearts have been filled with Christ’s love, sacrifice, and ever present nature. We have been reminded of His grace and faithfulness. I believe He has used our time of grief to remind me of how helpless I truly am, and how strong is the Great I Am.

In the midst of our heartache, God has blessed us with another little Mustard Seed to love and look forward to meeting. He has shown us once again the miracles He creates by His hand, and has filled our hearts (and my belly) with pure joy. Our cups are overflowing, and words cannot express the excitement we currently hold. We of course are still navigating grief, but we are learning to manage our fears with prayer and thanksgiving. What a perfect time of year to be reminded to give thanks!

We know that many will wonder why we are celebrating and announcing at such an early stage of our pregnancy (4 weeks). Our response? Why not! This child is a child. This child is a miracle, handmade by our Lord and Savior. This child is a JOY that should be shared. Just as I thanked a momma last week for sharing her joy with us as we got to hold her baby girl, so also my husband and I want to share our joy with all those around us. Not only that, but this baby deserves just as much love and doting as Bailey did—the difference is that we didn’t have enough time with Bailey to share at an early stage. We want to enjoy this time with our Mustard Seed, and we want this child to know they have been loved since before their birth. They have been loved by our God, by us, and by those we will surround them with when their birthday arrives.

If darkness comes once again—if we were to also lose this baby, we will be surrounded by those who mourn with us, just as you mourned with us when we lost Bailey. We pray and hope that we will get to meet this baby in 8 months, but we are trusting in God’s timing and His plans.

No matter what happens, this baby is loved. This baby is reason to rejoice. This baby is reason to be thankful. No amount of waiting to share until it is “safe” or hiding in secret until we “know for sure” will change any of these facts. We already are safe and know for sure where our hope lies, in Christ Jesus our Lord.

So, join us in thanksgiving for our miracle, as we join in with you for all the miracles we see come to be day to day. Praise be to God.
